How attendance becomes payroll

A short path from punch to payslip — what to approve, what locks, and what stays in Excel if you are not ready.

Start with the day, not the salary sheet

Payroll is only as good as the day record. If late, leave, and overtime live in different workbooks, someone rebuilds the month by hand.

In Worq the punch, the leave day, and the shift sit on the same employee. You review exceptions. Then the payroll run reads the approved result.

What to decide before the first run

Who may punch from the web or a device. Whether location is off, flagged, or blocked. How many minutes of grace you allow.

You do not need every policy on day one. Many teams capture attendance for two weeks, then turn late and overtime rules on.

What payroll actually uses

Approved attendance, leave that affects pay, overtime you marked eligible, and the salary structure on the person.

If a day is still open or an exception is unreviewed, fix that record. Do not patch a parallel Excel and hope the two stay aligned.
